Before the widespread use of personal computers, rubber compounding has always been considered an art, not a science. Traditionally, the recipe is kept in the form of a manual book, and this provides some basic documentation, for a rubber chemist, it\'s not easy to ask \"if\" questions and do experiments to design new recipes. Rubber chemists process a large amount of chemical data every day, including rich raw materials, test conditions and physical properties related to the formula. There is no way to effectively integrate all this information with paper-based systems at all. With the advent of cheap PCs, rubber chemists can finally start using their recipes in a more interactive and personalized way. Usually, the formula and rubber formula data are used off-the- Lotus software, database management programs such as dBASE III and dBASE IV, as well as Lotus 123 and Microsoft Excel financial extension table programs. While the flexibility of these methods on artificial systems has certainly improved, they still require a lot of computer knowledge. To use these programs effectively, rubber chemists must learn how to program and write computer applications. Even after using these programs to develop applications, most people still lack the flexibility and level of integration that rubber chemists need to manage their data effectively. The Chemix compound management program was developed as a rubber compound management and documentation tool. It will run on any IBM or 100% IBM-compatible computer system with at least 540 k ram and 2 MB of available hard disk space. It is designed to meet the specific needs of rubber chemists and works intuitively by reflecting the methods in which rubber chemists work. Design methods and objectives the program was developed and designed in accordance with the specifications of some leading rubber chemists, which represents a modern design concept, that is, for users who use computers for the first time, software should be intuitive and very easy without a broad learning curve. The purpose of writing this article is that rubber chemists should spend their time doing what they are best -- Design a more cost-effective formula to increase the manufacturer\'s productivity and profit. To make software programs more suitable for end users without a strong computer background, we are trying to develop a software program that enables rubber chemists to create and modify formulas, enter raw materials, properties, and test conditions, and manipulate the recipe database to generate meaningful, informative reports, which ended in a few minutes. Data management components, while the actual data management requirements vary from organization to organization. There should be some core elements in any compound management system so that they can be used effectively by rubber chemists. Based on our discussion with rubber chemists, here is a brief description of the main elements that should be present in any compound management system. * Database of raw materials. The basic starting point for managing Formula data is to create and build a database of raw materials suitable for rubber chemists. In our program, we used a digital coding system to create an initial starting database with some of the most common raw materials used in rubber compounding. In addition, users can add an unlimited number of additional raw materials to the database. Since several raw materials can be exchanged when mixing the formula, the program allows multiple raw materials to be associated with the common raw material code. In this way, the rubber chemist can replace the raw materials of \"interchanges\" to evaluate the alternative, more cost-effective formula. * Database of suppliers. In addition to tracking raw materials related to formulas, a supplier database needs to be maintained in order to make procurement decisions. The supplier database allows users to maintain accurate, up-to-dateto- Supplier Database. Several different suppliers can be kept in contact with each company. * Test conditions and physical performance. Rubber chemists define test conditions in ASTM format as conditions for testing different properties. A common example is tensile strength. Physical performance under specific test conditions may also be related to these test conditions and the introduction of new formulas automatically saves a lot of time and effort in creating new formulas. The program also maintains the minimum, maximum, and average values of the physical test properties under specific test conditions. * Recipe database. The recipe database is directly connected to the supplier, test conditions, physical properties and raw material files and should allow the rubber chemist to be flexible in choosing from the available raw materials when building the recipe. In addition, the recipe database must maintain a record of raw material use according to the steps and order of each hundred rubber, parts (phr)and weights (in lbs. or kgs. ) Each raw material used in the formula. The program allows rubber chemists to flexibly change raw materials and concentrations when developing experimental formulas while maintaining the integrity of the database. Figure 1 is a typical formula. How the program is used. The program was designed from the vantage point of the rubber chemist and was designed to enable the rubber chemist to take the time to focus on designing the recipe rather than writing the software program. The process of daily use of software programs is designed to reflect the actual process of rubber chemists developing and changing their formulas in real life. The starting point is raw materials. With the ordering of new raw materials, Chemix allows rubber chemists to enter additional raw materials and update the current inventory level of existing raw materials. In addition, the program enables users to track the source of raw materials. Rubber chemists can be added to the existing database of common rubber chemicals, or any raw materials that already exist in the database can be modified. In addition, rubber chemists can specify new raw material codes. Several interoperable raw materials can be combined according to the common raw material code. Rubber chemists may create new codes in order to create lower cost formulas using alternative raw materials. Once the initial raw material database has been established, the next logical step is to have the rubber chemist enter the common test conditions and their associated physical properties, as well as the minimum test conditions, the maximum and average values of these physical properties. Chemix is characterized by the ability to highlight the most common test conditions and then automatically introduce new test conditions and related physical attribute values for each new formula created. The formula or formula part of the plan is the majority of the time that the rubber chemist actually uses the plan. The recipe section is based on all the data previously entered. This is especially useful when rubber chemists are looking for alternative raw materials and want to study the impact of changing the composition of raw materials on the formula and the total cost per pound. Chemix is beyond the formula level. You can generate mixed instructions for the production department and guide the next batch of mixing in the production department. The contents of the formula can also be \"copied\" to create a new formula, which can then be manipulated. The system scans all existing formulas to prevent users from overwriting existing ones, thus protecting the integrity of the database. This is a time-saving feature that allows experiments without compromising the integrity of the original recipe. Proprietary preparations are the cornerstone of a chemist\'s competitive advantage. The program provides full secrecy for proprietary formulas through a password protection program that enables the system manager to assign specific permissions to specific user groups. Flexible reporting systems enable rubber chemists to generate many reports, including complete and accurate recipe manuals, production reports for mixing processes, list of suppliers, the list indicates which raw materials can be obtained from which suppliers, and a material use report showing which raw materials are used in which formulas, A recipe comparison report shows a comparative analysis of up to five formulations and their associated formulations, physical properties values and test conditions. The formula comparison in Figure 2 shows how the program compares up to five formulas side by side and their test conditions and properties. The program also allows you to replace a new raw material under a given step and sequence, as long as that raw material is associated with the same raw material code.
